Flooring Slate Section

We stock the largest range of natural slate flooring tiles in the UK. From rustic slates with more riven surfaces to create that traditional farmhouse effect, to very smooth calibrated slates that give you that natural feeling without the riven texture. Suitable for both commercial uses such as museums and bars to all residential areas such as kitchens, conservatories and patios. Most of the tiles are suitable for both external and internal uses. Stone tiles once sealed will only require occasional cleaning or mopping with a light detergent. A stone or slate floor will last a lifetime.

The Brazilian slates are all machine calibrated to nominal tolerances, if you are looking for a very comtempory uniform floor with minimal variation we would reccommend a slate from this range.

Although our Chinese and Indian slates are priced and sold as non-calibrated slates, these have been machined on the reverse to greatly reduce the thickness variations. This will reduce labour, fixing time and adhesive costs. Therefore making it easier to create an even, flatter more consistent floor level with less steps and dips.

Slate is a fine grained metamorphic rock. Its main constituents are quartz, chlorite, mica & calcite. Slate is formed when ocean or riverbed sediments are compressed and heated by the earth's crust.

Every slate is unique and as such may vary in colour and texture, we advise that prior to fixing all the tiles are laid out and then mixed to achieve the desired effect.

Please Note: We would ask all customers who are looking for a particular colour, texture, thickness or technical specification PLEASE DO NOT ORDER over the phone. Please contact the office and tell us your requirement. If you are looking for a consistent colour please tell us, as some stones can have wide variations and it is not always possible to show all variations in one small sample. It is recommended that you visit our warehouse to the examine the actual stock for suitability and to avoid disappointment and costs

Free Sample service

If you would like to a small sample tile up to two will be sent free of charge. If you would like more than two samples a charge £10 to cover postage and packaging will be made. If you place the order with us you can use the £10 towards the cost of the total bill.
