We are the UKs premier Slate / Stone Tile Specialist with over 40 unique and different colour stones from all corners of the world. All tiles are stocked in our own dedicated warehouse, and can be dispatched within 48 hours. You can be confident of not only high quality but also continuty of supply, ensuring the that we have the same or similar tiles should you require more at a later date.

You can choose from rustic slates with more riven surfaces to create that traditional farmhouse effect, to very smooth calibrated slates that give you that natural feeling without the riven texture. Suitable for both commercial uses such as shops, museums, restaurants and bars, to all residential areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories hallways etc. Stone tiles once sealed will only require occasional cleaning or mopping. A stone or slate floor will last a lifetime.

The Brazilian slates are calibrated to very small nominal tolerances, if you are looking for a very contemporary uniform floor with minimal variation we would recommend a slate from this range.

All our Chinese and Indian slates are now gauged, this means some or all of he tiles will be lightly machined on the reverse reducing the thickness variations. This will reduce labour, fixing time and adhesive costs. Therefore making it easier to create an even, flatter more consistent floor level with less steps and dips.

Slate is a fine grained metamorphic rock. Its main constituents are quartz, chlorite, mica & calcite. Slate is formed when ocean or riverbed sediments are compressed and heated by the earth's crust.

Guide to Calibrated, Gauged and Ungauged slates

Calibrated - This slate may be heavily machined on the reverse to make it completely smooth. There is very little variation in thickness in this slate.

Gauged - This slate has separated into different thickness's and additionally most tile backs will have been lightly machined to flatten lumps and steps allowing tiles to lay flat on the subfloor reducing adhesive costs by up to half.

Ungauged - This slate has just been hand split and both sides are natural

Every slate is unique and as such may vary in colour and texture, we advise that prior to fixing all the tiles are laid out and then mixed to achieve the desired effect.

Please Note: We would ask all customers who are looking for a particular colour, texture, thickness or technical specification PLEASE DO NOT ORDER over the phone. Please contact the office and tell us your requirement. If you are looking for a consistent colour please tell us, as some stones can have wide variations and it is not always possible to show all variations in one small sample. It is recommended that you visit our warehouse to the examine the actual stock for suitability and to avoid disappointment and costs

All prices are quoted ex-warehouse and is subject to VAT at the prevailing rate

Free Sample service

If you would like to a small sample tile up to two will be sent free of charge. If you would like more than two samples up to max 6 a charge £15 to cover postage and packaging will be made. If you place the order with us you can use the £15 towards the cost of the total bill subject to minimum order of £500.00 before delivery and VAT.
